The seven players are a program best since joining the ACC
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that Chrislyn Carr, Liz Dixon, Nyla Harris, Morgan Jones, Merissah Russell, Josie Williams and Hailey Van Lith were named to the All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic Team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career, while also appearing in at least 50% of the team's contests.
Louisville set a program record for players named to the ACC All-Academic team with seven selections this season. The previous record was five that was hit in each of the last two seasons.
Jones earned her fourth career All-ACC Academic team nomination as she claimed three honors while at Florida State to begin her career. Carr earned her second academic honor from the ACC as she was on the All-Academic team last season while at Syracuse. Harris is just the fourth Louisville freshman to earn All-ACC Academic Team honors over the last nine seasons.
The Cardinals finished the year with a 26-12 record and advanced to the fifth-straight Elite Eight and eighth in program history. They are the only program in the country that has advanced to each of the last five Elite Eights. The Cardinals have advanced to the Sweet 16 or further for six-straight tournaments, the third longest active streak in the country. Louisville reached the ACC Tournament Championship game for the fourth time in program history.
This past fall, the Cardinals achieved a collective 3.393 grade-point average, which marked the 17th straight semester that women's basketball has earned better than a 3.0 cumulative GPA. 10 of their 15 athletes were Red & Black Scholar-Athletes for a GPA 3.25 or higher.
