February 18, 2023 | Women's Basketball
This will be the final road game of the regular season for the Cardinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's basketball team is off on the road for the final time in the regular season as it ships up to Boston this weekend. The Cardinals are set to take on the Eagles on Sunday, February 19 from Conte Forum. The Eagles and Cardinals will square off at 12 p.m. ET and it will be aired nationally on ACC Network.
Louisville is coming off a tough road loss in overtime to #10 Notre Dame this past Thursday. The Cardinals tied the game at 76 with an Olivia Cochran layup with 3.8 seconds remaining but the Irish hit a shot at the buzzer to clinch the win. Louisville has been very good at bouncing back quickly following a loss under head coach Jeff Walz. The Cardinals are 82-24 after a loss in Walz's 16 seasons. In their last 16 games coming off a loss, the Cardinals are 14-2. So far this season, Louisville is 6-2 after a loss.
The Cardinals starting lineup switch has proven very effective as Louisville is 4-1 since they switched the starting five ahead of the Jan. 29 game against Syracuse. Over the last five, she has averaged 7.4 points, 7.2 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game. Robinson set a career high with 12 assists in the win over Syracuse, the most assists by a Cardinal player since 2015.
Hailey Van Lith continues to have success with the new starting five, as she has averaged a team-best 15.6 points over the last five games to go with 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Van Lith has led the team in scoring in each of the last four games and has scored 17 points or more in each game. Chrislyn Carr is second on the team over the five-game stretch, averaging 14.4 points coming off the bench. She is shooting 49.7 percent (26-53) from the floor and has led the Cards in plus/minus in four of the five games.
Newly inserted starters Nyla Harris and Norika Konno have also played at a high level over the last five games. Harris set a career high with 18 points against Syracuse and a career high with 12 rebounds against #11/14 North Carolina.
