The Cardinals finished non-conference play with an 11-2 record
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 19 Louisville women's basketball team (11-2) is back from the holiday break and will head out on the road to open ACC play this weekend. The Cardinals are heading to South Beach as they are set to take on the RV/23 Miami Hurricanes (10-1) on New Year's Eve this Sunday. The Cardinals and Hurricanes are set to square off in the conference opener at 4 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast nationally on the ACC Network.
Louisville finished off non-conference play with an 11-2 record, the 12th time under head coach Jeff Walz that they earned 10 or more wins in non-conference play. The 11 non-conference wins rank second in the ACC as the Cards are just one of four teams to win 10 or more wins in non-conference play up to this point.
Two of those 11 wins came against ranked opponents from Power-5 conferences. The Cardinals won a road matchup over No. 19/20 Ole Miss (64-58) on Nov. 29 and closed out non-conference play with a home win over No. 23 and undefeated Washington (59-51) on Dec. 20. Sunday's matchup against the Hurricanes is the middle of a grueling stretch for the Cardinals as it is the third of a potential four-straight games against opponents ranked or receiving votes in each of the two polls.
With ACC play beginning for all teams this weekend, the Cardinals have had immense success in the conference since they joined in the 2014-15 season. Over the past nine season, the Cardinals are 126-24 with a winning percentage of .840 in those games. Louisville is the only team with a winning percentage above .800 and have seven-more conference wins than the second-best team during that span.
