Cardinals Close Homestand Against Bucknell

It will be the first meeting between the two schools in program history
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 19/15 Louisville women's basketball team (3-0) is set to finish off its three-game homestand this Sunday. The Cardinals welcome Bucknell (1-2) to the KFC Yum! Center as they are facing them for the first time in program history. The Cardinals and Bison will square off at 4 p.m. ET and the game will be aired nationally on ACC Network.
Louisville is coming off a historic win this past Thursday when they took on crosstown foe Bellarmine at the Yum! Center. The Cardinals defeated the Knights 111-33 and the 78-point winning margin was the largest in the Jeff Walz era. It is the second largest margin of victory in program history.
In the win, the Cardinals set program history with eight players scoring in double figures against the Knights. The previous record was seven players and it occurred most recently in 2017 against Tennessee State. Sydney Taylor led the Cardinals with 15 points, Nyla Harris added 14, Alexia Mobley had a career-best 12, Kiki Jefferson, Jayda Curry and Merissah Russell all had 11 points and Olivia Cochran and Elif Istanbulluoglu both had 10.
Istanbulluoglu in just her third collegiate game, recorded her first double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. She is the first Louisville freshman to record a double-double since Olivia Cochran had 13 points and 15 rebounds in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament against Northwestern. Its is the second-straight game a Cardinals played recorded their first career double-double after Nyla Harris had 13 points and 11 rebounds against DePaul.
The Cardinals limited Bellarmine to nine points in the first half, the third-fewest in a first half in program history. Last season, the Cardinals tied the program record for fewest points allowed in the first half with eight against the Knights at Freedom Hall.

The Bison opened the season with road losses to Penn State and Temple before their win over the Knights. Last season, Bucknell went 13-17 overall and were 9-9 in Patriot League play.
Series History - This will be the first meeting between the two schools in program history. This will just be the third time ever the Cardinals have faced a current opponent from the Patriot League. They have faced Lafayette twice in their history and the most recent matchup occurred in 2016 (W, 92-48).
