Louisville will wrap up the fall season Sunday at the Rivanna Romp hosted by Virginia
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville rowing team will wrap up the fall season Sunday when the Cardinals travel Virginia to compete in the Rivanna Romp in Earlysville, Va.
Â
"This race is an opportunity to see how we stack up against some of the best in the ACC as well as a couple of other programs," said UofL head coach Derek Copeland. "We like to treat this as a more selective regatta- sort of a fall version of ACC Championships."
Â
Action on Rivanna Reservoir will begin at noon with the Varsity Eights, followed by the Varsity Fours and novice crews. Boats will go off one at a time, about 10-15 seconds apart, in a time trial to determine the winners. The field includes Duke, Minnesota, Navy and North Carolina along with host Virginia.
Â
"It is a big trip for us and allows us to test our boat selection procedures and to get in some great fall racing," said Copeland.
Â
Fan Information
Free parking is available at the Thomas Temple Allan Boathouse on the west bank of the Rivanna Reservoir. The boathouse is the closest point spectators can see the boats along the 4,000-meter course.
