Cardinals Conclude Fall Season at Rivanna Romp

EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville rowing team completed its fall schedule Sunday afternoon at the Rivanna Romp. The Cardinals contested the 4,000-meter course on the Rivanna Reservoir against boats from 2023 NCAA qualifiers Duke, Navy, and Virginia along with Minnesota and North Carolina.

The Cardinals' Varsity 8+ boat turned in a time of 13:44.9 for an eighth place finish while the 2V8 boat finished at 15:01.7.

In their second race of the fall, the Novice 8 finished fifth with a time of 15:33.7.

"The Novice 8 put together the race they were working towards and all the coxswains did what they could with some challenging situations," said UofL head coach Derek Copeland.

Louisville's 2V4 boat placed 15^th with a mark of 15:29.5 with the Varsity 4s standing18^th at 15:37.4. The 3V4 and 4V4 boats turned in times of 16:37.5 and 16:50.7 respectively

""We are disappointed with some of our performances today,' said Copeland. "Although we saw some pockets of growth, it seemed like we lacked the killer instinct we really needed to speed up as a program. The bottom line is that we need to get faster through the winter and I look forward to seeing them step up over the next 12 weeks."
