Cards Set to Face Boston College in ACC Quarterfinals Tuesday

Third-seeded Cards and sixth-seeded Eagles will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a rematch of Friday’s regular season finale
The No. 12 -ranked University of Louisville field hockey team earned the No. 3 seed in the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and will face sixth-seeded Boston College in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Virginia's Turf Field. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the quarterfinal game between the No. 2-seed Duke and seventh-seeded Wake Forest.

• Tuesday's contest marks the second meeting in four days between the Cardinals and the Eagles and rematch of Friday's season finale which saw Louisville prevail 2-1 in double overtime.
• Louisville enters the tournament with a 13-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in ACC play to earn the No. 3 seed.
• UofL stands at No. 12 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA coaches poll released on Oct. 23.
• The Cards have scored 30 goals on the season with 12 different players contributing to the total. Aimee Plumb and Emilia Kaczmarczyk lead the way with five goals apiece.
• Merlijn van der Vegt carries a 0.96 goals against average which leads the ACC and is eighth in the nation.
• Julie Kouijzer, Aimee Plumb, Kaczmarczyk, Izzy Bianco and Lauren Masters represent Louisville on the NFHCA Preseason Watchlist.
• Kouijzer and Plumb were named to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC team as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Cardinals were also picked to finish fourth in the regular season.
• Justine Sowry is in her 13th season at the helm. During her time at Louisville, she has guided the Cardinals to a 178-80 record, eight NCAA tournament appearances reaching the quarterfinals twice and advancing to the semifinals for the first time in program history in the 2020-21 season. She earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2021.
• Under Sowry's tutelage, Louisville has tallied three conference titles, including back-to-back ACC regular season crowns (2020, 2021) as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in the ACC Championships.
