
RV/RV Cardinals Look to Bounce Back Against RV/RV Seminoles

Cardinals are 4-1 this season coming off of a loss
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The RV/RV Louisville women's basketball team (13-6, 4-2) is back out on the road for its second road game this week when it heads south to Tallahassee. The Cardinals are set to take on RV/RV Florida State (16-3, 5-1), who are winners of five of its last six and 16-3 on the year. The Seminoles and Cardinals are set to face off at 1 p.m. ET from Tallahassee and the matchup will be aired on RSN and ACCNX. Fans can check their local listings for the channel in their area, locally it will be shown on Bally Sports South.
Louisville is coming off an 81-79 defeat on the road to #13/13 Virginia Tech and the game came down to the final possession. Hailey Van Lith carried the Cards with a game and season-high 29 points. She was 10-for-26 from the floor against the Hokies, her sixth game this season she has made 10 or more shots. The Hokies came into the matchup second in the ACC and only allowed opponents to score 55.4 points per game. The 79 points and 50.8 shooting percentage were both the highest allowed by the Hokies all season.
The Cardinals have had a knack for shooting the ball at a high rate this season. On the year, Louisville is shooting 46.7 percent, a mark that is second in the ACC and 21st nationally. In conference games, the Cardinals lead the league as they have shot 47.9 percent in the six ACC games so far. Louisville is third in the league in scoring in conference games, averaging 72.8 points per game while the Seminoles lead the league, averaging 87.3 points in ACC games.
Sunday's matchup will pit two of the country's best scorers against each other in Van Lith and Ta'Niya Latson. Latson leads the ACC and is fifth nationally in scoring as she averages 25.0 points per game. Van Lith is averaging 20.8 points per game this season, a mark that is second in the ACC and 14th nationally. In ACC games, Latson is averaging 24.3 points while Van Lith is right behind with 23.0. Van Lith is the only player in the ACC to score 18 or more points in every ACC game this season. Latson has three 30-point efforts in conference play so far.
Morgan Jones will be making her return to Tallahassee as she played her first four collegiate seasons at Florida State. While with the Seminoles, Jones scored over 1,000 points, was a two-time first team All-ACC recipient and was a two-time All-American honoree. Jones is coming off her best game as a Cardinal when she scored a season-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting against the Hokies. Jones led the team with a season-high nine rebounds and played a season-best 39 minutes.

While the Seminoles cut the Louisville lead to 40-38 midway through the third quarter, Florida State never led in the second half. Louisville (17-2, 7-1 ACC) prevailed despite the Seminoles (9-9, 3-5) getting a season-high 28 points from All-American senior Morgan Jones. Engstler added 12 rebounds, with Olivia Cochran contributing 17 points for Louisville. Senior guard Mykasa Robinson, better known for her defense, matched her season high with nine points. The ACC All-Defensive team member also posted four steals. Florida State outshot Louisville 46.3% to 41.3%, but the Cardinals forced the Seminoles into 17 turnovers while just committing eight themselves. That led to an 18-4 margin in points off turnovers.
