June 09, 2022 | Field Hockey
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville associate head field hockey coach Hannah Prince has added another impressive achievement to her resume after completing her USA Field Hockey Level 3 Coaching Course certification - the highest-level certification that USA Field Hockey offers. She is now eligible for FIH accreditation.
Â
"I am very grateful to Justine and Louisville for supporting my attendance at the USA Field Hockey Level 3 Coaching Course," said Prince. "The weekend provided me the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the world. This experience helped me grow as a coach and I look forward to bringing what I have learned to our team this fall."
Â
Prince, who is entering her third season at UofL, has helped lead the Cardinals to several milestones during her time at Louisville. She has helped guide the team to a pair of NCAA tournaments including the program's first Final Four appearance in the 2020-21 spring season. The Cards followed with an impressive 2021 campaign in which they captured ACC regular season title after a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play and matched a school record with 16 overall wins.
Â
"Hannah is one of the brightest young coaches in our profession," said UofL head coach Justine Sowry. "She is enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and improving her knowledge and how she can be a more effective coach for our student-athletes. I am proud of her for continuing to get out of her comfort zone and she was rewarded with receiving the highest coaching accreditation in the country."
Â
In addition to the team accomplishments during Prince's time at Louisville, the Cardinals have placed six on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America and nine on the NFHCA All-West Region teams while Sowry and her coaching staff earned 2021 ACC Coach of the Year honors. The 2022 roster will feature 14 returning letterwinners including 2021 All-Americans Julie Kouijzer and Aimee Plumb.
Â
"Our program is about to enter a new chapter and I could not be more excited for our coaching team that brings passion, talent, new ideas, methodology and personality to the program," said Sowry.
