No. 24 Cards Cap Regular Season with a 7-0 Sweep Over Belmont

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 24th-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team swept Belmont University 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in the season finale.
The Cards won five out of six matches of the year to finish the regular season with an 18-7 (9-3 ACC) record. The 18 regular-season wins are the most since the 2017 season, and the nine ACC wins are the most ever wins for the Cards since joining the conference in 2015.
Louisville clinched the doubles point thanks to a 6-0 win by Natan Rodrigues and Sergio Hernandez on No. 2 and a 6-3 win by Matthew Fung and Alex Wesbrooks on court 3.
In singles, the Cards got off to a hot start when No.100-ranked Etienne Donnet blitzed Arthur Toledo 6-0, 6-2 on court 1, and Freshman Natan Rodrigues won 6-1, 6-1 on court 5. Senior Josh Howard-Tripp defeated Tomas Luis 6-3, 6-3 on court 2 to clinch the Cards victory. The final three wins for Louisville all came down to the wire in third sets. Senior David Mizrahi won his match 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 at No. 6. On court No. 3 senior Tin Chen picked up a 6-2, 6-4, 1-0 win, and senior Sergio Hernandez completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Up next, Louisville will head to Rome, Ga for the ACC Championships on April 20-24. The Cards currently sit among the top five of the ACC standings.
