LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville plays its second straight on the road -- where four of its next six games will be played -- as the Cardinals visit Notre Dame, Ind. to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday.Â
Louisville fell 92-69 at Syracuse on Feb. 5 as the Orange shot 55.2 percent from the field, including 12-of-23 three pointers (.522), only the fourth team to shoot 50 percent or above from the field against the Cardinals. Jae'Lyn Withers led UofL with 13 points, his first time leading the Cardinals in scoring this season, the ninth different player to lead UofL in scoring, and the fifth straight game Louisville's leading scorer has come off the bench.Â
Notre Dame (16-7, 9-3 ACC), a half game out of first place in the ACC, has won six of its last seven games, including 69-57 at NC State on Feb. 5 in its last outing as forward Paul Atkinson, Jr. led five players in double figures with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Notre Dame is second in the ACC in three-pointers per game (8.8), is 19th in the nation in fewest turnovers per game (10.4) and third in the nation in fewest fouls per game (13.1). Â Five players are averaging over eight points each, led by guard Dane Goodwin at 14.5 points per game (16th in the ACC). Â
Louisville has a 26-16 series advantage over Notre Dame and the Cardinals have won six of the last seven meetings. Â In the last matchup, Notre Dame prevailed 82-70 over UofL in the KFC Yum! Center (1-22-22) as the Irish shot a torrid 63.3 percent from the field, including 15-of-23 three-pointers (.652). Â Louisville was a member of the Big East Conference with Notre Dame for eight seasons (2005-13).
