Rowing Heads to Caryville to Scrimmage with Michigan

Cardinals will race pairs on Sunday and Eights on Monday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville rowing team heads to Norris Lake in Caryville, Tennessee to scrimmage Michigan this weekend as a leadup to its first competition.

The Cardinals will race Michigan in pairs (2x200m) Sunday afternoon and then on Monday will practice with the Wolverines on various race pieces in the 8s boats.

UofL returns all but one rower to the V8 boat that raced in the ACC Championships last spring. Cox Rosie Devine, Violette Legrand, Caitlin Bentley, Katie Beiler, Claudia Figueiredo, Parekura Kellow, Michaela Dukes and All-ACC selection McKenzie Sweeney all return. The Cardinals also return their entire V4 boat that raced at ACCs with Cox Izzy Hussey, Alaina Brauer, Charlotte Almond, Eliza Wack and Madeline Dodd.

During the off-season, the Cardinals novice and varsity roster kept busy with varsity and novice non-scoring events against SMU and Indiana as well as participating in the Rivanna Romp, hosted by Virginia and featured crews from Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Miami, Navy, North Carolina and SMU last fall in Earlysville, Va.

The Wolverines return 16 of 23 student-athletes from the 2021 NCAA Championships roster which led the team to a fourth-place finish, including Pocock All-American Charlotte Powers (second team) and All-Big Ten performer Grace Collins (second team).

UofL will host the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational March 19029 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. to officially open the season.
