Cards Ranked Among Top Five in Team GPA

The University of Louisville field hockey team was tied for third on the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Team Award list as announced by the organization today. This marks the 11th straight year the Cardinals have earned the national team academic honor and the second consecutive season ranked in the top five.

UofL posted a 3.76 team GPA, tying with Dartmouth for third in the national academic standings. Fairfield led the nation at 3.79 followed by Stanford's 3.77 mark.

The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.

The academic honor is one of many for Louisville field hockey this season. Last week it was announced that the Cardinals were among the nation's leaders with nine student-athletes named NFHCA Scholar Athletes. Louisville also placed 23 on the 2021 National Academic Squad.

The Cardinals finished the 2021 season ranked sixth in the National Field Hockey Coaches' poll after earning their 10^th NCAA tournament bid. The Cardinals posted a 16-4 overall record, matching a school record for wins. Additionally, UofL won the 2021 ACC regular season title after compiling a program-best 6-0 record in league play.
