
No. 4 Louisville Women’s Basketball Welcomes in Florida State on Thursday

The Cardinals and Seminoles will tip off at 8 p.m. ET on the ACC Network and 790-AM WKRD.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 4 University of Louisville women's basketball hosts the second game of its three-game homestand against Florida State on Thursday night. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. ET and broadcast on the ACC Network and 790-AM WKRD.
Tickets for Thursday's game are available and fans can enjoy $4 draft beer and $3 sodas. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive an adidas Louisville t-shirt behind Section 101.
In the 72-60 win over Wake Forest on Sunday, Louisville used a 32-0 run from 7:34 in the second quarter until the 5:17 mark of the third quarter that turned a 26-25 deficit into a 57-26 lead. Wake Forest missed 21 consecutive shots during the stretch. In the second quarter, Wake shot 1-12 and scored four points. In the second and third combined, they scored 15 points on 3-26 shooting.
In the win over Wake Forest, Liz Dixon scored 12 points and was a perfect 5-5 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line. She added five rebounds.
Hailey Van Lith leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game. She has scored in double figures 14 times this season and in 11 of the last 12 games. She led the way with 17 points against Wake Forest and six times has led the Cardinals in scoring this season. Over the last four games, she is averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game.
In ACC play, Louisville has assisted on 109 of 188 field goals, good for 58.0 percent. UofL assisted on 19 of 26 buckets, which was good for 73.1 percent, against Wake Forest, which marked the second highest assist percentage this season. They assisted on 17 of 23 (.739) field goals against UT Martin. The Cardinals are averaging 15.6 assists per game in ACC play, which ranks third in the league.
Emily Engstler has been named to the 2022 Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Watch List. Engstler leads the ACC with 2.7 steals per game and her 1.4 blocks per game rank seventh. She recorded seven steals in the win over Pitt, which marked the first time that a UofL player has had seven steals in a game since Bria Smith did it twice during the 2014-15 season.
UofL is 6-0 when shooting above 50 percent. They shot 51.0 percent in the win over Wake Forest. Overall, they boast a 130-1 record when shooting 50 percent or better from the field under head coach Jeff Walz.

Florida State enters Thursday's matchup with a 9-8 overall record, 3-4 in ACC play. They have alternated wins and losses in their last six games and are coming off a 75-70 win over Clemson. Their other two wins in conference play are against Wake Forest (W, 87-46) and at Clemson (W, 79-68). The Seminoles are averaging 69.8 points per game, which ranks eighth in the ACC, while giving up 60.4 points per game, which ranks ninth. They rank second in the ACC with 5.0 blocks per game. Senior guard Morgan Jones is FSU's lone double-digit scorer with 14.6 points per game, which ranks sixth in the ACC. Morgan Jones led Florida State with 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. She shot 7 of 13 from the floor and 12 of 15 from the free-throw line for the Seminoles. Kourtney Weber scored 14 as the Seminoles used a 9-0 run in the fourth period to pull in front and hold on for the victory. Evans scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half, but she shot just 5 of 21 for Louisville. She also finished with a team-high five assists. Olivia Cochran had 12 points and nine rebounds.
