September 23, 2021 | Women's Basketball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former University of Louisville women's basketball guard Dana Evans has been named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team.Â
It marks the second straight season that a former Cardinal has been named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team as Jazmine Jones was honored a year ago. Evans was also named to the Associated Press WNBA All-Rookie Team.
Evans was selected by the Dallas Wings with the 13th overall pick of the 2021 WNBA Draft and was later traded to the Chicago Sky. In 23 games with the Sky, she averaged 3.9 points and 1.2 assists, while shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc. She had a season-high 14 points, while adding three assists and two steals, in a 107-75 win at Seattle on Aug. 29.
Following her senior season at Louisville, Evans was named a WBCA Coaches' All-American for the second straight year. She is just the third Louisville player to earn WBCA Coaches' All-American team honors, the others being Angel McCoughtry in 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 and Asia Durr in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Â
She was named ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season as a senior, joining Durr as the only players in program history to earn conference player of the year multiple times. She was also named the ACC's Kay Yow Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the second Louisville player to win the Kay Yow award, also joining Durr.
Â
The Sky host the Dallas Wings in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
