Men's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --Â The University of Louisville men's tennis team continued to collect academic honors, earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Team honors while eight individuals were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Programs earning ITA All-Academic Team status must have a collective grade point average of 3.2 or above for the current academic year. ITA Scholar Athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or above for the academic year.
UofL posted a team GPA of 3.566 in the fall and surpassed that mark with a 3.652 showing in the spring semester, marking the 18th straight semester with a collected GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Representing the Cardinals on the ITA All-Academic Team are: Tin Chen, Clement Filho, Josh Howard-Tripp, David Mizrahi, Fabien Salle, Kyle Tang, David Tesic and Alex Wesbrooks.

About Louisville Men's Tennis
The Cardinals finished the 2020-21 campaign ranked No. 51 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings and reached as high as No. 49 during the spring season. Louisville posted a 9-12 overall record and a 3-8 mark in a challenging ACC slate. UofL placed a pair of players on the All-ACC teams: Fabien Salle and Sergio Hernandez.Â

Head coach Rodrigo da Silva recently completed his second season at the helm. He took over the program in the fall of 2019 and the shortened 2020 spring season, da Silva's young squad compiled a 9-6 overall record which included a 4-3 upset of No. 10 Virginia and a first round victory over New Mexico at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.Â
