
No. 15 Louisville Welcomes No. 3 Syracuse for Weekend Series

The Cardinals and Orange will play Friday at 3 p.m. ET and Sunday at 12 p.m. ET at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 15 University of Louisville women's lacrosse is set to host No. 3 Syracuse for a pair of ACC contests this weekend. The Cardinals and Orange open the two-game set on Friday, April 16 at 3 p.m. ET at UofL Lacrosse Stadium before closing the weekend with senior day on Sunday, April 18 at 12 p.m. ET.

Both games will broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

The Cardinals are 5-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The Orange enter Friday's game at 9-1 and 5-1 in the league.

Louisville is in the midst of a stretch where they play top five teams in seven of its final nine games and top 10 teams in eight of nine. The Cards are 0-4 against top five teams this season and 0-7 against top 10 teams.

Prior to the win over Virginia Tech, Louisville played four straight games against top five teams and they now close the season with three more against top five teams. The Cardinals are 1-25 all-time against top-5 teams. Their lone win was a 10-9 victory against No. 4 Notre Dame on March 5, 2016.

Louisville is seeking its second win over a ranked opponent this season, as well as their second ACC victory. They are looking for their first ACC home win since a 9-8 win versus Syracuse on April 22, 2017.Â

Ally Hall leads the team and ranks seventh in the ACC with 30 goals. Her 2.50 goals per game rank ninth and her 5.4 shots per game rank seventh in the league. She did not score in the season opener against Florida, but has an 11-game scoring streak since then. During that 11-game stretch, she has nine multi-goal games. The longest goal-scoring streak of her career is 13 games from 2019 to 2020.

Hall has 95 career goals and is just five away from becoming the 10th player in program history to reach 100 goals.

Earlier this week, Caroline Blalock was named an ILWomen Midseason Second Team All-American. She ranks second on the team with 22 goals and she has 98 in her career, just two shy of 100.

Goalkeeper Rachel Florek has recorded 112 saves throughout the 2021 campaign, which ranks first in the ACC and seventh in the NCAA. Her 9.3 saves per game rank second in the league, while her .450 save percentage ranks sixth.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
Syracuse enters the weekend series with a 9-1 record and 5-1 in conference action, with their only loss coming against No. 1 North Carolina. The Orange are ranked No. 3, the same spot they stood in the initial Inside Lacrosse poll this year. They concluded the shortened 2020 campaign with a 7-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2019. Meaghan Tyrrell leads Syracuse with 38 goals which ranks third in the ACC, while her 5.7 points per game ranks second. Tyrrell also has a team-high 19 assists and 57 points. Sarah Cooper has tallied 26 ground balls, while Katelyn Mashewske has registered 54 draw controls. Goalkeeper Asa Goldstock has recorded 75 saves for a .475 save percentage, ranking third in the ACC. Syracuse had five players named to Inside Lacrosse's Preseason All-America list, while three were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Head coach Gary Gait owns a 199-71 record in his 14th year at Syracuse. He has guided the Orange to two NCAA championship game appearances, eight NCAA semifinals, six ACC regular season titles, and three ACC tournament crowns.
