Cards Down Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Looking to keep their momentum after a 4-0 victory against Butler last week, the University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Florida State 4-1 to earn their second victory in conference play.
With the win, Louisville improves to 7-7 (2-5, ACC) on the season, while Florida State falls to 6-12 (1-7, ACC).
"We got the job done," said assistant coach Mario Rincon. "I'm so proud of the way the guys fought for every point. It's a testament of the team culture head coach Rodrigo has brought to the program. We will hurry up and try to make the flight back and read ready for our next battle."
In doubles, Florida State gained the early edge over the Cardinals with Andreja Petrovic AND Chase Wood taking down Josh Howard-Tripp and Alex Wesbrooks 6-4 on court three.
Spots one and two saw very intense matches with both courts featuring ranked doubles players. The Louisville duo of No. 70 Matthew Fung and Fabien Salle swung past No. 72 Alex Knaff and Sebastian Arcila 6-4 on court one. On court two, Sergio Hernandez and Tin Chen traded points back on forth with No. 62 Pourroy and Marcus Walters and the match at one point was tied 5-5. However, the Seminoles pulled away, winning the court 7-5, and taking the doubles point.
In singles, the Cardinals responded with Chen earning Louisville's first point in the match, defeating Alex Knaff 6-3, 6-4 on court one. Fung pushed past Marcus Walters 6-4, 6-3 on
court five to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead in the match.
The remaining singles matches were nail biters with courts two, four, and six all going to third sets. David Mizrahi won his first set against Andreja Petrovic 6-2 on court six, but was swept in the second 6-0. The third set went back and forth and at one point it was tied 4-4. In the end Mizrahi pulled off the victory 7-5, giving the Cards a 3-0 lead.
Salle clinched the match with a win over Loris Pourroy on court two. He lost his first set 6-4, but rallied  to win back-to-back sets 6-4, 6-3.
