Cards play in Nashville on Friday and host UTM on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team will conclude a three-game road stretch against No.15 Vanderbilt on Friday before returning home to host UT Martin on Valentine's Day.
Â
First serve in Nashville is scheduled for 3:30Â (ET) and Sunday's home matchup is set to start at 11 a.m.
Â
Louisville is 3-1 with home wins over Ball State and Miami (Ohio) to start the season. The lone loss came this past weekend in Wichita, Kan., where Louisville fell to Iowa State 3-4. Louisville rebounded from the loss to rout host Wichita State 6-1. The doubles line of Rhea Verma and Andrea DiPalma upset the No.23 ranked Shocker duo of Sarvinoz Saidhuhaeva and Marta Bellucco 6-0. The rest of the lineup rode that momentum to take the doubles point and five out of the six singles courts.
Â
Vanderbilt is on a six-game winning streak to open head coach Aleke Tsoubanos' first year at the helm. Tsoubanos took over the program after 13 seasons as an assistant coach. The Commodores, who are 5-0 at home, have won 39 out of the 42 total points this season. Christina Rosca is the lone ranked Commodore, slated at No. 20 in the latest ITA individual rankings. She is 5-0 in singles competition, undefeated in her last ten matches dating back to last year, splitting time at the No.2 and No.3 line for Vanderbilt.
Â
UT Martin is winless in their first five matches. The Skyhawks are set to compete in a neutral-site matchup against Central Arkansas on Friday, Feb.12 before traveling to face Louisville. Sunday's meeting marks their sixth of twelve straight road games to start the 2020-21 campaign. UT Martin is scheduled to play for the first time at home on Mar. 19 against Southeast Missouri. The Skyhawks lineup is led by the senior doubles pair of Jule Streif and Amelia Campbell, who are 2-3 overall this season.
Â
Louisville will open its ACC conference schedule with a dual match against Syracuse on Feb. 19 inside the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â
