Louisville welcomes newest Cardinals
The University of Louisville swimming and diving team has added nine swimmers and a pair of divers to the Class of 2021 to continue their athletic careers as Cardinals for head coach Arthur Albiero.

Karoline Barrett, who swims the 50- and 100-butterfly and freestyle, comes to Louisville from Greve, Denmark, where she swam club for GTI Swim for Coach Niklas Brix. She attended high school at Vestskoven Gymnasium. An Olympic trials qualifier, she holds the Danish National Record for the 200 freestyle relay and was a bronze medalist at 100 butterfly at Danish Championship 2020. She participated at Europeans Junior championships in 2016, 2018, and 2019. She was a finalist in 50 freestyle in 2018 and semifinalist in 50- and 100-butterfly in 2018 and 2019. She set a Danish Junior Record in the 50 butterfly (25M), going 26.34 and was a Silver medalist in 100-freestyle and bronze medalis in 4x100 medley (in the butterfly leg) at European Youth Olympics Festival in 2017. She participated in 2 Division at Danish Team ChampionshipÂ

Guy Brooks, who swims sprint freestyle, butterfly and backstroke, comes to the Cardinals from Durban, South Africa where he swam for the Seagulls Club and Coach Graham Hill. He attended Westville Boys High where he swam for Coach Brad Rohe. He was second in the 100-freestyle and the 200-freestyle at the South African Nationals and placed third in the 50-freestyle. He competed in the 2020 Olympic Trials and was named the Best Male Swimmer at the 2021 Cana Africa Games .

Charlie Crush, who swims the 100-backstroke and the 100-butterfly, is from here in Louisville where he swam for the Lakeside Seahawks for Coach Mike DeBoor. As a swimmer for St Xavier High School for Coach Todd Larkin, Crush qualified for Summer Juniors and was a Scholastic All-American. He competed in US Open and won several individual and relay club state championships. He was an All-American and was both an individual and relay high school state champion as St. Xavier won a National Championship and state championship all four years he was there.

Julia Dennis, a sprint freestyler, comes to Louisville from Oxford, Miss., where she swam for Shockwave Aquatic Team (SWAT) and Oxford High School for Coach Robert Gonzalez. She was a State Qualifier, a Sectionals Qualifier, a Winter Juniors Qualifier, a Summer Juniors Qualifier, and a Toyota US Open Qualifier. In 2021, she was the Mississippi short course state champion in the 50-, 100-, 1650-freestyle. She was a TYR Premier Invitational champion in the 50-,100-yard freestyle and holds the state record in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. She also set the 50-meter free style state record and was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She is the 2021 MHSAA state champion in the 50- and 100-yard free where she set the MHSAA record in those two events. Earning NISCA High School All-American honors, she was a four-time All-State team member.

Joseph Dowling, a diver from West Palm Beach, FL, where he dove at Coral Springs Diving for Coach Michelle Sandelin and Matt Vieke. He also competed at Suncoast Community High School for Coach Aly Oliver. He was a 2019 USA Diving National Qualifier and a 2020 All American. At Suncoast, he was a four-year varsity diver and was the 2021 Florida 2A District 11 and Region 4 champion. He was runner-up at the 2020 Tri-County Diving Championship and took fifth place in the 2019 Florida 2A State Championship Meet.Â
Jordan Durocher, an IM and backstroker, is from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she swam for Nation's Capital Swim Club for Coach Jeremy Linn. She was a US Open Qualifier, 6A State Finalist, and is currently holding five school records at Riverbend High School.

Robert Ehrenborg, who swims the 50-free, the 100-free and the 100 breaststroke, comes to UofL from nearby Fisherville, Ky., where he swam for Cardinal Aquatics under Coach Colin Faris. He swam for Coach David Robinson at the Christian Academy of Louisville, where he was a State Qualifier and a Junior National Qualifier. He was a member of the 2021 LC 200 freestyle relay state champion foursome and on the the 2021 SC 400-freestyle relay that won state. As a Kentuckiana 2020 USA Today High School Athlete Honoree, he also was named to the KHSAA Academic All-State, Honorable Mention and is the School Record holder in the 50- and 100-free. A versatile athlete, he was also a member of the 2018 2A KHSAA State Football Championship team at CAL.

Paige Kuwata, a distance freestyle and IMer, comes to Louisville from Las Vegas, Nev., where she swam for the Sandpipers of Nevada and Coach Ronald Aitken. She also swam for Nevada Learning Academy/Palo Verde High School for Coach Brent Gonzalez. She was Olympic Trials Qualifier, World Cup Medalist, and a NAG Relay Record Holder.  She was a three-time Scholastic All-American and a member of the USA Swimming National Junior Team. She was the NIAA 4a State Champion in the 200 freestyle.
Jackson Millard, an IMer from Lexington, Ky., stays to close to home, to compete as a Cardinal. Swimming for Kentucky Aquatics, for Coach Devin Murphy, he also competed for Henry Clay High School for Coach Daniel Porter. Millard was a Junior National finalist. At the 2020 Kentucky HS State Championships, he finished third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 back. He earned six best times at the Barbourville 2020 18&U Winter Championships. In December 2020, he won both the 200 IM and 400 IM at the Music City Invite and finaled in the latter event at Juniors East in 2019. Millard placed third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 back as a sophomore at the Kentucky State Championships.

Jiselle Miller, a diver from Middlebury Indiana, comes to the Ville from the Indiana International School Of Diving (IIDS), where she dove for Coach Bob Burns, who was also her high school coach at Northridge High School. As a freshman, she was conference runner-up, sectionals runner-up and regionals runner-up before finishing eighth at the State Meet, earning 2nd Team All-State honors. She also made the semi-finals at the USA Junior Nationals that year. As a sophomore, she the conference champion and was the sectionals and regional runner-up before finishing 18th at State. As a she was the conference, sectional and regional champion before finishing fourth at the state meet. That year she qualified for USA Junior Nationals where she was a semifinalist on all boards. In all, she was a three-time All-Conference performer, holds three pool records, 11 dive record (545.35) and six dive record (311.95)

Kledi Kadiu, who swims freestyle and breaststroke, comes to Louisville from Durres, Albania by way of St. Louis, Mo. Â He swam for CSP Tideriders for Coach David McCrary. Â He attended Migjeni High School. He competed in the men's 100 meter freestyle at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and also represented Kadiu represented Albania at the 2019 World Junior Championships. He is a four-time NCSA Junior National champion, and competed at the Albanian Open Championship

Ella Welch, a sprint freestyle specialist, is from Louisville, Kentucky, where she swam for Cardinal Aquatics for Coach Colin Faris. She swam for Assumption High School for Coach Rick Stewart. She was an Olympic Trials Qualifier and a Junior Nationals Finalist as well being named as a Scholastic All-American.  She was the High School State Champion in 100 Free in 2019, 2020, & 2021 abnd High School State Champion in 50 Free in 2021. She holds High School State Record Holder in 100 free. High School Swimmer of the Year 2021.
