
Cardinals Collect USTFCCCA Academic Honors

The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams collected All-Academic Team honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday. In addition to the team awards, nine student-athletes individually earned All-Academic Athlete honors.

On the women's side, UofL earned the team award for the 16th straight year after posting a 3.42 collective GPA in the 2019-20 season. The Cardinals' All-Academic Athlete selections include: Bailey Beery, Makenli Forrest, Alexis Gibbons, Halee Hudson, Gabriela Leon, Auriane Viola, Dorcas Wasike and Aliyah Welter.

The men garnered the All-Academic Team award with a cumulative team GPA of 3.05. Christian Buckley was named an All-Academic Athlete.

In order to qualify for All-Academic status, a team must carry a season cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field.

To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
            • For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48             (collective listing) in any championship relay event for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on             TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
