
No. 7 Louisville Hosts Wake Forest on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After opening Atlantic Coast Conference play with a 4-0 record and moving into first place, No. 7 Louisville women's basketball (15-1) welcomes in Wake Forest on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
Louisville is coming off an 87-41 win at Miami on Thursday. The 46-point win marked the Cardinals' second-largest margin of victory this season behind the 49-point win (86-37) over UT Chattanooga. It also marks the second largest margin of victory ever in an ACC game behind the 48-point win (91-43) at Virginia last season on Jan. 17, 2019.
UofL held Miami to 20.3 percent shooting (13-64), which marks the lowest field goal percentage allowed since they held Wake Forest to 19.4 percent shooting (12-62) in a 75-46 win in Winston-Salem on Feb. 26, 2017.
The Cardinals held Miami to just four points in the first quarter, which ties the lowest point total allowed in a quarter this season. They held Murray State to four points in the first quarter in a 76-40 win.
The Hurricanes did not make a field goal in the first quarter, as they went 0-14 from the field and 4-8 from the free throw line. The last time Louisville held an opponent without a field goal for a quarter was in a 76-44 win at Clemson on Feb. 2, 2019. In the third quarter, the Tigers shot 0-12 from the floor and 5-6 from the stripe.
Louisville shot 55.6 percent (35-63) from the floor in the win over Miami, which marked its highest field goal percentage this season and the best since they shot 55.6 percent (25-45) in the 68-49 win at No. 22 Florida State on Jan. 24, 2019. Last season, they shot a season-best 57.1 percent (36-63) in a 91-43 win at Virginia on Jan. 17, 2019.
The Cardinals had a season-high 25 assists in the win over Miami, which marked the most assists this season and the most since they had 25 in a 102-62 win over UT Martin on Dec. 4, 2018. They limited the Hurricanes to just five assists, meaning they had a plus-20 assist differential. It marked the biggest assist differential in a game since they out-assisted Middle Tennessee 26-4 in an 80-26 win on Dec. 9, 2017.
UofL is giving up 57.0 points per game, which ranks third in the ACC, and have held opponents to 67 points or less in all but one game. In four ACC games, they are holding opponents to 51.0 points per game, which leads the league and is 4.5 points better than second-best Georgia Tech (55.5 points allowed per game).
ABOUT THE DEMON DEACONS
With a 10-5 record, Wake Forest has already matched its win total (10-20) from a year ago. The Demon Deacons are 3-1 in ACC play after going a league-worst 1-15 last season.
After falling at Miami (L, 59-56) to open conference play, they have won three straight games - at Duke, (W, 60-58), vs. Georgia Tech (W, 65-60), vs. Clemson (W, 63-58). Overall, they have won six of seven and eight of 10 games.
The Demon Deacons rank eighth in the league with 69.9 points per game and sixth allowing 61.1 points per game. Their +11 rebounding margin ranks second in the league, but their -3.4 turnover margin ranks 14th.
Junior Ivana Raca leads the team and ranks seventh in the ACC with 16.3 points per game, while pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game. She has five 20-plus point games, which is tied for fifth in the ACC.
Senior Alex Sharp ranks second on the team with 12.7 points per game, ranks sixth in ACC with 8.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 45 percent from the floor, which ranks ninth. Junior Gina Conti rounds out Wake Forest's double-digit scorers with 11.3 points per game. She ranks fourth in the ACC with 5.3 assists per game and seventh with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Louisville jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter after Arica Carter opened the game with three early 3-pointers. Bionca Dunham added eight first quarter points as the duo scored 17 of the 19 points in the opening stanza. Wake Forest cut the lead to single digits in the second and third quarter, but never really threatened and Louisville then utilized a 20-10 fourth quarter to seal the 24-point win. Louisville forced 25 turnovers and scored 26 points off those turnovers in the win. The Cardinals assisted on 19 of 26 buckets and 10 different players scored. Carter led the way with 12 points on 4-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Dunham was the only other player to score in double figures as she finished with 10 points and three rebounds.
