Institutional Staff members may make unlimited phone calls to a prospect or the individual accompanying the prospect starting five days before the prospect comes for an official visit or the day immediately proceeding the visit for an unofficial visit. This exception lasts until the end of the visit in both cases. See Bylaws 13.1.3.3.1 and 13.1.3.3.2 for more information.

If more than the otherwise permissible number of calls occur under this exception and a scheduled official visit is canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of the prospective student-athlete or the institution (e.g., trip is canceled by the prospective student-athlete, inclement weather conditions), such calls shall not be considered institutional violations. (Adopted: 1/10/92, Revised: 4/26/01, 12/12/06, 10/30/14, 4/26/17 effective 8/1/17, 1/23/19)

If more than the otherwise permissible number of calls or if otherwise impermissible calls occur under this exception and a scheduled unofficial visit is canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of the prospective student-athlete or the institution (e.g., trip is canceled by the prospective student-athlete, inclement weather conditions), such calls shall not be considered institutional violations. (Adopted: 4/26/17 effective 8/1/17, Revised: 1/23/19)
