Louisville vs. Texas Tech
Â
Louisville Head Coach Chris Mack
On tonight's game:
I give all the credit in the world to Texas Tech. I thought they took the fight to us tonight. I think they have, obviously, lost a lot from last year, but they haven't lost their identity. They are a very tough team on the defensive end and they completely negated a lot of the stuff we were trying to run. They had a lot of effort and communication and had a want to win the game. Hopefully, our guys take this as a lesson learned. I thought they were a well-coached team. Chris (Beard) did a much better job preparing his kids for the environment and the type of game it was tonight and I didn't.
On the play of his team:
Early in the game, we took way too many ill-advised shots and made some poor decisions. Because of that, I don't think we ever felt comfortable enough in the offensive end.
On the strengths of Texas Tech:
They really guard the ball extremely well. Your screening actions a lot of times get negated. You get a slip here or there because they switch their five guys now and then. Because of that, it created some tentativeness on our part.
On Forward Jordan Nwora:
In the first half, he was (forcing shots). He didn't play very well. He wasn't the only one. We were disjointed on offense. We were taking some quick shots and turning the ball over in transition. Had we taken advantage of it, the game would have felt different. I thought he played much harder in the second half. He didn't do that to start the game and he knows that.
