Freshman James Bell advances to 'D' singles finals, senior Clement Filho reaches 'B' consolation finals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman James Bell registered two wins Saturday in Louisville Fall Invitational to advance to the finals of the flight 'D' singles draw at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Senior Clement Filho also picked up a pair of wins to reach the consolation finals of the 'B' draw. Louisville finished the day with seven combined wins.

The Cards started the day with two doubles wins. Bell teamed with sophomore David Mizrahi to beat Xavier's Brett Winters and Matthew Graft in the consolation round of the 'B' draw. Filho and sophomore Juan Paredes defeated Kennesaw State's Jose Galvez and Jack Sorel 6-1 in the 'D' consolations.

In singles action, Bell overcame a 7-5 first-set loss to beat Belmont's Jake Briggs 6-2, 11-9 and advance to the 'D' semifinals and picked up an 8-7 (11-9) win against Temple's Enzo Brida. He will take on Middle Tennessee State's Sean Presson in the championship match.

Filho defeated Kennesaw State's Sebastian Osorio 6-3, 6-3 to reach the 'B' consolation semifinals where he topped Butler's Olof Wiklund 6-3, 7-6. He will face Middle Tennessee's Francisco Rocha in Sunday's consolation final.

Freshman Randy Wilson topped Temple's Louis Gorregues 6-4, 6-0 in the first round of the 'A' consolation draw before falling 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 to Lipscomb's Pablo Caffarena.

The Louisville Invitational Tournament will conclude Sunday with doubles matches starting at 9 a.m.
