Men's Tennis Set for Weekend Matches

Cards play host to Georgia State Friday at 3 p.m., travel to Dartmouth for Sunday tilt
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team returns to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday at 3 p.m. for a matchup against Georgia State. Just two days later, the Cardinals will head to Hanover, N.H. to play Dartmouth on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Â

"We are excited about hosting Georgia State who had a proud tennis program that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2017," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "They will bring out the best in us. Then on Sunday against Ivy League power Dartmouth who spent some of last season in the top 15 in the country. It will be a big test for us especially our freshmen on the road."

The Cardinals (4-2) went 1-1 at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in their last outing, falling 4-0 to Florida Atlantic, but bouncing back with a 4-1 win against William & Mary in the consolation match.

Against William & Mary, Louisville captured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Fabien Salle posted a 6-2 win over Oren Vasser and Brenden Volk at the one-spot, while Brandon Lancaster and Alex Wesbrooks clinched the point for the Cards. In singles, Morin-Kougoucheff, Salle, Federico Gomez and David Mizrahi each picked up wins to secure the 4-1 victory.

In the ITA national standings, the Cardinals are led by senior Brandon Lancaster with the No. 104 singles ranking. In doubles, Lancaster pairs with fellow senior George Hedley for the No. 34 doubles ranking.

Scouting the Panthers: Georgia State (2-1) enters Friday's matchup fresh off two wins over New Orleans and South Florida at the LSU Jerry Simmons Invitational. Bailey Showers and Andre Duarte lead the Panthers with 2-0 records at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. In doubles, Diego Padilha and Showers hold a 1-0 record at the three-spot.

Series Record: Dartmouth leads 1-0.
Last Meeting: February 4, 2018 – Dartmouth won 4-1 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Scouting the Big Green: Dartmouth (3-1) has posted wins over Indiana, Bryant, Kentucky, but fell to then-ranked No. 14 Columbia 4-1 in the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship match. Charlie Broom holds the No. 27 singles ranking and boasts a 10-4 record so far this season. In doubles, Dan Martin and John Speicher received the No. 52 ranking following fall play. In dual match action, Broom and David Horneffer are 2-1 at the one-spot.
