No. 4 Louisville Hosts Virginia on Thursday Night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 4 University of Louisville women's basketball hosts Virginia (7-10, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Louisville (15-1, 3-1) got back on track with a 61-44 victory over Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon. The Cards jumped out to a 24-14 first quarter lead before cruising to the win.

With the win, the Cardinals avoided losing two straight games. They have not lost two straight since the 2016-17 season vs. NC State on 2/2/17 (L, 72-70) and at Notre Dame on 2/6/17 (L, 85-66).

Louisville is looking to extend its 14-game winning streak at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals are 131-15 all-time at the KFC Yum! Center and 26-1 in the last two seasons.

Sam Fuehring recorded her second double-double of the season and the sixth of her career with 13 points and 14 rebounds vs. Georgia Tech. She also had a double-double against Nebraska, with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

She is averaging 10.7 points, which ranks second on the team, while shooting 63-114 (.553) from the floor, which ranks ninth in the ACC. She is also averaging a team-high 6.6 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in eight of 16 games.

Louisville is averaging 16.9 assists per game, which ranks fifth in the ACC and 32nd in the country. They have double-digit assists in 15 of 16 games. Against Georgia Tech, they assisted on 19 of 23 buckets, good for 83 percent. They have assists on 57 percent of their buckets this season.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS

Virginia enters Thursday's game with a 7-10 overall record, 1-3 in ACC, in head coach Tina Thompson's first year at the helm. They are 1-3 in true road games, falling 63-51 at Kentucky, 91-66 at Michigan State and 71-65 at Clemson, and winning 73-67 at Old Dominion.

The Cavaliers are second-to-last in the ACC with 58.8 points per game and their -5.5 scoring margin, 35.9 field goal percentage and 11.2 assists per game rank last.

Junior Jocelyn Willoughby leads the team with 12.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She is shooting 35-69 (.507) from 3-point range, which leads the ACC. Junior Dominique Toussaint averages 11.3 points per game and leads the team with 3.4 assists per game.
