Louisville was selected second in the league’s preseason poll
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — University of Louisville junior guards Tajianna Roberts and Imari Berry were both named to the Preseason All-ACC team, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals are one of two teams to have multiple players named to the Preseason All-ACC team.
The conference also announced the predicted order of finish for all 18 league teams. The Cardinals were selected to finish second overall and they received 22 first place votes. Louisville has finished in the Top 5 of the league standings in each of its 12 seasons in the ACC. They are the only school in the league to finish in the top 5 in each of the last 12 seasons. Last season, Louisville finished second in the regular season after being predicted to finish fourth in the preseason poll.
Imari Berry is the reigning ACC Sixth Player of the Year after a stellar sophomore campaign. She led the team in scoring in ACC play with 11.4 points per game and was one of four players to average 10 or more points per game last season.
She had a breakout game in the 88-80 overtime win on the road over NC State on Jan. 17 last season. Berry scored a career high 33 points with 25 coming in the second half and overtime as the Cards faced a 13-point deficit. It was the most points scored by a Louisville player last season and the most points scored at Reynolds Coliseum by a visiting player since 2018.
This is the second-straight season Roberts has been named to the preseason All-ACC team, as she received this honor prior to last season. At the end of the year, Roberts was named to the First Team All-ACC by the league's coaches.
Roberts was the Cardinals leading scorer last season with 11.5 points per game and had a team-best 25 games with 10 points or more. In ACC play, she led the team with 3.5 assists per game and was one of four players to average 10 points or more (10.1). Roberts had multiple assists in 14 of the 18 ACC games last season, including a career-high seven in the road win over Miami. She had four or more assists in 10 of the 18 ACC games a season ago.
Berry, Roberts and the Cardinals are gearing up for the 2026-27 season, which starts on Monday, November 2. The Cardinals host Bellarmine for a 5 p.m. ET tip as it is a back to back game with the men's program, who plays Chattanooga later in the evening. The season opener is one of 18 home games for the Cardinals this season and single game tickets are available for purchase now.
