By: Trevor Carroll
On Wednesday August 29, 2018, 270 University of Louisville student-athletes from all sports were brought together in a training and competitive-free environment at 2018 Student-Athlete Social held at the Speed Art Museum.
Â
The third annual event was made possible by the generosity of Jim & Irene Karp. This event is part of a partnership between the Speed Art Museum and the LCare student-athlete development program. The goal is to provide cultural diversity to the student-athlete population, while engaging them in the arts. During the event, student-athletes were given the opportunity to participate in multiple activities throughout the museum including interactive exhibits, a photo booth and a silent disco.
Â
Students attending the event we wearing the colors yellow, purple, and teal for suicide prevention awareness. The program will continue its collaboration with the Speed Art Museum throughout this academic year with an added focus of community engagement.
