Student-Athletes Connect with Employers at First NIL Marketplace Event
January 25, 2023 | Beyond the Buzzer, Name, Image, Likeness
LOUISVILLE, Ky.– On January 18, 2022, the Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) department at the University of Louisville hosted its first ever Name, Image, Likeness Marketplace event. The event, hosted at the KFC Yum! Center, gave student-athletes an opportunity to market themselves to local companies and businesses to start conversations about potential NIL partnerships.
Â
"I've been growing my network here at Louisville since day one, and this NIL marketplace is a great opportunity to expand that network," said Emmanual Sowders, graduate football player. "I was glad to have the chance to build relationships with company representatives to explore potential partnerships.
Â
The event hosted over 15 local companies from around Louisville. Student-athletes were given personalized business cards that listed their personal information and specific interests for NIL opportunities. Student-athletes exercised their networking and communication skills throughout the event and fostered new relationships with companies in attendance.
Â
"The NIL Marketplace event was a great opportunity for local businesses to mix and mingle with student-athletes to discuss potential NIL opportunities," said Zack McKay, director of NIL Services and Engagement. "We are really excited to see the partnerships that the student-athletes created grow throughout the year."
Â
Louisville student-athletes have a variety of opportunities throughout the year to explore potential NIL opportunities and make partnerships in the community. To learn more about NIL at the University of Louisville, visit GoCards.com/NIL
