Men's Tennis Opens ACC Championship Play Against Virginia Thursday

Cards earn the No. 8 seed and will face ninth-seeded Virginia Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville earned the No. 8 seed in the 2018 ACC Men's Tennis Championship and will face ninth-seeded Virginia in Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina. The winner of Thursday's match will move on to face top-seeded Wake Forest in the quarterfinals Friday at 2:30 p.m.

"We are excited to be playing the ACC Championships," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "This tournament helped us secure an NCAA bid last season and a win can do the same thing this season. I want my team to place loose and free tomorrow."

The Cardinals bring a 15-10 overall record into the tournament and posted a 5-7 mark in ACC play this season. Louisville is ranked No. 41 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released on April 17. Junior Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff stands at No. 53 in singles with a 19-9 overall record and is 13-4 in dual matches playing mostly at No. 1. Sophomore Parker Wynn is No. 103 and carries a team-best 25-10 overall record and is 15-5 in dual matches mainly at No. 2. Â

The 15th-ranked duo of Morin-Kougoucheff and Wynn lead the Cards with a 27-10 overall record mark as Louisville's No. 1 doubles team.

In their 2018 regular season matchup on March 2, then No. 35 Louisville upended the defending national champion Cavaliers 6-1 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The final two days of the tournament will be carried live on the ACC Network with overage set from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the tournament's final two days.
