No. 48 Ranked Women's Tennis Falls to No. 4 Ranked Duke

Cards end three match road trip in Durham.
The No. 48-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 4 Duke Sunday afternoon in Ambler Tennis Stadium.

Louisville moves to 13-6 overall and 3-5 in conference while .Duke improves to 16-1 on the season and 8-0 in the ACC.

In doubles, at No. 2, Ariana Rodriguez and Sena Suswam were tied at three before falling 6-3 to Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin. The Cards had a 4-2 lead at both No. 1 and 3 before Dukes's fifth-rnaked pair of Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen tied the score against No. 51-ranked  Mariana Humberg and Abbie Pahz at No. 1. Duke's Meible Chi and Hannah Zhao tied Raven Neely and Maya Smith and then pushed through for the 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point for Duke. The match at No. 1 was unfinished.

The Blue Devils struck first in singles when No. 73-ranked Ellyse Hamlin beat Raven Neely 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 slot. Tiffany Huber was the next to fall for the Cardinals, when No. 29-ranked Kelly Chen was victorious at No. 4 with a score of 6-1, 6-2. The match was clinched at the No. 1 slot, when No. 7 ranked Samantha Harris beat Aleksandra Mally 6-2, 6-2.  The Cards got their lone point from the No. 3 spot, when Abbie Pahz defeated No. 69-ranked Kaitlyn McCarthy 5-7, 6-4, 13-11.

The Cards return home April 6 when they face NC State at 3 p.m. and then April 8 when they face North Carolina at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
