Women's Tennis Falls to No. 3-ranked Georgia Tech

Cards took the Jackets to three sets in four spots before bowing 7-0
The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to the No.3-ranked Georgia Tech 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

 The loss drops Louisville to 12-2 and 2-1 in league play. The win improved the Jackets to 6-0 at home on the season to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in ACC play.
The Jackets stung first by taking the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Tech's doubles pair of Nami Otsuka and Nadia Gizdova defeated Louisville's Aleksandra Mally and Ariana Rodriguez, 6-1 at No.3. Tech clinched point at No. 2 when Johnnise Renaud and Ida Jarlskog beat Sena Suswam/Raven Nelly 6-3.
Louisville's Mariana Humberg was the lone Card to win the first set in singles, taking the first set 6-4 from No. 25-ranked Paige Hourigan. Humberg lost in a tiebreaker in the second set 7-6 (7-5) before falling 10-5 in the third. At No. 3, Kenya Jones won 6-3, 6-2 win over Abbie Pahz to put Tech up 2-0. Nami Otsuka won at No. 5 over Raven Neely7-1.Â
Leading the match at 3-0, Tech clinched at No. 6 where Nadia Gizdova beat Maya Smith. 6-3, 6-2. Competing at No. 1 Johnnise Renaud had her hands full with Cardinal Aleksandra Mally, before winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. No. 83-ranked Ida Jarlskog of Tech edged Tiffany Huber at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 7-6 (7-0).Â

The Cardinals are idle until March 16, when they host the Cavaliers of Virginia at 3 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
