Women’s Golf Takes Eighth at Evans Derby Experience

Olivia Cason recorded the Cardinals’ best third-round total with an even-par 72.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team finished eighth at the Evans Derby Experience on Tuesday in Auburn, Ala.
Lauren Hartlage, who had two rounds even or below par in the three-round tournament, tied for 17th to pace the Cardinals. She shot a 1-over-par 73 in the third round, capping the three-day event with a 2-under-par 214. Notably, she placed ahead of three golfers that entered the competition ranked in Golfstat's top 25.
The Cardinals concluded their first Evans Derby Experience at the Auburn University Club with a 12-over-par 876. Louisville's lineup compiled a 5-over-par 293 on the final day.
Olivia Cason carded the team's best third-round total, shooting an even-par 72. She tied for 38th after registering consecutive rounds even or below par.
Molly Skapik and Kristin Engle contributed the lineup's final two scores. Skapik, who shot a 3-over-par 75, tied for 32nd, while Engle logged a 1-over-par 73 and tied for 41st.
Playing as an individual, Margot Bechadergue tied for 41st. It was the second three-round tournament of her freshman season, and her 7-over-par 223 was the fourth-best score among all individuals, which included the tournament's runner-up.
Arkansas won the team title with a 28-under-par 836, paced by the Razorbacks' individual winner Maria Fassi, who had a 14-under-par 202.
Louisville travels to the Anuenue Spring Break Classic next week in Maui, Hawaii. The three-day event played at Kapalua Bay Course starts Monday.
