Cardinals Defeat Boston College 6-1

Louisville picked up their 10th victory of the season against the Eagles.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Boston College by a score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. With the victory, the Cardinals earned their 10th win of the season.
The Cardinals (10-4, 2-1) gained the initial advantage, winning the doubles point to take the early lead over the Eagles. The 22nd-ranked team of Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn downed Chris Grasel and Derek Austin 6-2 at No. 1, earning Louisville their first win. Moments later, the undefeated team of Federico Gomez and Brandon Lancaster defeated Boston College's duo of Max Palmer and Gereon Heitmann 6-4 at the second position to put the Cards up 1-0 heading into singles. George Hedley and Ciro Lampasas were up 5-2 at No. 3 over Conor Mullins and Kent Mukai before play was suspended.
Continuing their momentum into singles, the Cards quickly increased their lead to 3-0 with wins on court one and court two. Morin-Kougoucheff earned the first singles victory with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 over Gereon Heitmann, followed by Parker Wynn's 6-2, 6-3 victory over Derek Austin on court two.
After falling 6-3 in the first set, Gomez battled back 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 to take down Chris Grasel at No. 3 and clinch the match for the Cards.
On court five, Lancaster grinded out a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory over Markus Nordby to extend the lead to 5-0. Nicolas Rouanet fought hard against Kent Mukai at No. 3, but ultimately fell by a mark of 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
The Cardinals closed out their 6-1 victory over the Eagles with Hedley's 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 defeat of Max Palmer at No. 6.
Next up, the Cardinals complete the backend of today's doubleheader at 5 p.m. against Detroit Mercy.
