The Cardinals are seeking their first 1-seed in program history.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville women's basketball is set for the NCAA Tournament selection show, which airs Monday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m., on ESPN.
At 32-2 overall and No. 3 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, the Cardinals are seeking their first 1-seed in the history of the NCAA Tournament. They were a 3-seed in 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2016, which marks the highest seed in program history.
UofL recorded its 32nd win vs. Notre Dame in the ACC title game, which is the third most victories in a single season. It took just 34 games to get to 32Â wins, which marks the fastest to that win total in program history. The 29 wins marked the most regular season wins in program history.
Louisville will make its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. The Cardinals will make their eighth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 10th in 11 seasons under head coach Jeff Walz. Louisville has moved on to the Sweet 16 seven times and advanced to the NCAA Final Four twice in its last nine tournament appearances.
Walz boasts a 23-9 record (.719) in NCAA Tournament games, ranking him seventh all-time in winning percentage (NCAA minimum of 20 games). Among active coaches, he ranks fourth.
The NCAA First and Second Rounds will take place March 16-19 at 16 different host sites that will be announced Monday evening.
