The Cardinals and Mocs will tip off at 7 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a 102-80 win over Western Kentucky in the season opener, University of Louisville women's basketball remains on the road and will play at Chattanooga on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
Already the winningest coach in Louisville history, head coach Jeff Walz seeks his 301st career win after recording his 300th victory (300-96) on Tuesday.
UofL improved to 10-2 in season openers under Walz. All-time, the Cardinals are 25-19 in first games of the year. Louisville's 102 points marked the most points in an opener. The previous high in the Walz era was 101 vs. Loyola Chicago in 2013.
Last year, they scored 100-plus points twice with a school-record 115 vs. Murray State on 11/24/17 (W, 115-51) and 100 vs. Notre Dame on 1/11/18 (W, 100-67). UofL is 22-0 all-time when scoring 100-plus.
In her final season opener, senior guard Asia Durr scored the Cards' first 11 points and finished with 33 to set UofL's all-time record for points in an opener. She scored her 33 points in just 21 minutes, shooting 12-21 from the floor and 7-15 from 3-point range.
Redshirt senior Arica Carter didn't start vs. WKU, which ended a stretch of 64 consecutive starts in games that she has played. Despite not starting, she scored a career-high 19 points in 19 minutes, shooting 6-10 from the floor and 4-7 from 3-point range. She tied a career-high with four threes, a feat she has accomplished three other times.
Redshirt senior Yacine Diop recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes in her debut as a Cardinal. It marked the 15th double-double of her career.
The Cardinals open with their first five games away from home, which marks most games away from Louisville to start the season since 2008-09.
