Clement Filho wins in singles
Junior Clement Filho led the University of Louisville men's tennis team on the opening day of the at the 2018 FineMark/FGCU Collegiate Open Friday at Bonita Bay Club,
Â
"Clement continued his winning from the Regionals with a confident singles performance," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We had three more opportunities for wins when Alex and Clement had two match points in doubles and Fredrk and Alex were both up a break in the third set in singles. We talked about a couple of things that they need to do better to finish off these types of matches."
Â
In singles, junior Clement Filho defeated Matt Story from Memphis 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Alex Wesbrooks picked up a 7-5 first-set win against Memphis's Oscar Cutting, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-3. Â Junior Fredrik Moe lost his first set 6-3 to the Tigers' Marshall Sullivan, but rebounded to take the second 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the third.
Â
The Cardinals will take on players from Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday.
