Lancaster Wins A1 Singles Consolation Draw at Duke Bonk Invitational
September 17, 2017 | Men's Tennis
Junior Brandon Lancaster posted a 3-1 record in the tournament
The University of Louisville's Brandon Lancaster defeated North Florida's Sahil Deshmukh 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to win the A1 singles consolation bracket of Duke's James Bonk Invitational Sunday afternoon.
Â
"Brandon had another great showing today. I'm really happy for him getting these quality wins," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "George finally got to see the product of the good tennis he has been playing this weekend. I trust he will build from this. We now need to rest and get healthy as we have several opportunities coming up this fall."
Â
Lancaster, a junior from Louisville, Ky., finished the tournament with a 3-1, picking up three straight wins after losing his first round match. He also paired with junior George Hedley to win the 'B' doubles consolation bracket.
Â
In other A1 singles action, Hedley defeated Auburn's Diego Chavaria 6-3, 6-4 in the seventh place match. Senior Ciro Lampasas fell 6-2, 6-0 to North Carolina's Kavir Kumar in the A2 division seventh place match.
