Women’s Golf Moves into Tie for 10th at NCAA Columbus Regional

Molly Skapik shot a 2-under-par 70 and is tied for ninth.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Molly Skapik shot a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday at the NCAA Columbus Regional Championship, helping the University of Louisville women's golf team move into a tie for 10th in Columbus, Ohio.
The junior, Skapik was flawless in the second round of competition and tied for the best single-round score in the tournament. She climbed 13 spots on the individual leaderboard and is tied for ninth, with a 3-over-par 147.
Skapik, who had 16 pars and two birdies in the second round of play, leads the 96-player field with 27 pars.
The Cardinals own a 38-over-par 614 after shooting a second-round total of 12-over-par 300. While Florida continues to hold the team lead at 14-over-par 590, Louisville is only seven strokes back from the No. 6 position, with the top six teams from each of the four regionals advancing to the NCAA Championship.
Louisville tees off with San Jose State and Wisconsin on hole 10 for the final round of the regional championship on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. ET.
Olivia Cason and Lauren Hartlage contributed to the Cardinals' rise, with stronger second-round performances.
Cason had a remarkable front nine, tallying two birdies and an eagle. The sophomore had a solid tee shot and then earned the eagle on No. 16, a par-4 hole. She hit the approach shot a little beyond the pin and it rolled back into the cup for one of three eagles in the event. She finished the day tied for 33rd, with a 9-over-par 153.
Hartlage is tied for 46th after a 5-over-par 77. The freshman, who owns an overall 11-over-par 155, also had a solid first nine that included three birdies.
Meghan Nay rounded out the top-four scorers with a 7-over-par 79. The redshirt freshman, who is playing in her first collegiate postseason event, is tied for 66th, with a 15-over-par 159.
