
Evans, Duvall Earn USA Today State Player of the Year Honors

Lindsey Duvall and Dana Evans each were named USA Today state players of the year.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball signees Lindsey Duvall and Dana Evans each were named USA Today All-USA State Player of the Year in their home states of Kentucky and Indiana, respectively.
Duvall and Evans, an all-USA Today Girls Basketball second team selection, join California native Loretta Kakala in making up the Cardinals' fourth-ranked recruiting class, according to espnW HoopGurlz. Evans and Kakala were both named McDonald's All-Americans.
Duvall, 2016-17 Kentucky's Miss Basketball, averaged 23.6 points and 8.3 rebounds this past season. The 5-foot-9 guard shot 47.8 percent from the field, with a 40.8 percent clip from 3. She led Bullitt East High to a 27-8 mark and the Sixth Region final.
The senior season for Duvall was especially memorable after she lost much of her junior season because of surgery to remove a tumor from her left knee.
A two-sport athlete, also competing in track, Duvall started playing for Bullitt East's varsity basketball team as a seventh-grader. She finished her career with 2,957 points, tying with Leslie County's Hillary Moore for 25th place in state history.
Evans averaged 36.0 points per game, the highest mark in the state and fifth best in the country, 7.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 4.8 steals per game.
She scored 2,832 points in her career at West Side, placing her fifth all-time on the state's scoring list.
A five-star prospect that is ranked seventh overall in the class of 2017 by espnW HoopGurlz, Evans averaged a remarkable 35.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in her junior season. In the summer of 2016, Evans helped USA Basketball to a gold medal at the FIBA Americas U-18 championship in Valdivia, Chile.
