Louisville Earns Three Wins on Day One of Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite

Cardinals earn two wins in third varsity four boat, one win in third varsity eight boat

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Louisville rowing team kicked off the sixth annual Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational with a trio of wins during a busy first day of racing at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue.

The Cardinals registered a pair of wins in the third varsity boats, while also adding a win in the third varsity eight boat. During the morning session, Louisville's third varsity four crew of Perie Howard (coxswain), Amelia Herrera, Elizabeth Patrick, Gabi Biedenharn and Kylie Noltemeyer finished in a time of 7:38.863, more than 22 seconds ahead of second-place Minnesota. Kansas was third in a time of 8:03.852. In the afternoon session, the same 3V4+ crew from Louisville paced the way with a time of 7:39.691, while Virginia (7:47.063) and Clemson (8:00.422) followed the Cardinals.

The third victory of the day for the Cardinals came in the morning session when the third varsity eight crew of Tiffany Chea (coxswain), Nicole DiTommaso, Victoria Goldin, Vanessa Fiedler, Gillian Burns, Madison Luette, Meredith Price, Carlie Heimann and Abigail Davies finished with a time of 7:19.187. Kansas was second in a time of 7:23.412.

Louisville will conclude the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Sunday morning.
