LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville Cardinals are set the host the University of Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Â
Louisville is 8-2 overall, with a conference record of 0-1. Last weekend, the Cardinals began with a win over Marshall on Friday, and lost their conference opener to Notre Dame on Sunday. Louisville is facing Pittsburgh for the third time in as many years, with an even record of 1-1. The Cardinals are led by junior Mariana Humberg, and freshman Tiffany Huber. Humberg is 8-2 on the season, while Tiffany Huber is undefeated at 8-0 and 1-0 in conference play. Huber won her first ACC singles match against the Fighting Irish, and picked up a double victory as well.
Â
Pittsburgh is 2-2 this season under Head Coach Alex Santos, who is in his fourth year in charge of the program. The last time that Pittsburgh faced off against Louisville, the Panthers won 5-2. The Panthers haven't played since Feb. 12, where they lost a close battle to Penn State 4-3. Pittsburgh has a lot of experience coming into this season, bringing in only one freshman, and bringing back three seniors, and a junior. Sophomore, Gabriela Rezende, who is 13-4, has the best record on the team this season. Rezende picked up a point for her team in Penn State, where she won her match 6-4, 6-2.
