The money raised from the event went toward the Cuba trip and continuing facility upgrades.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team knows its strengths, and for some, those abilities don't translate to the golf course. That didn't stop the program from holding another successful golf outing.
The Cardinals hosted their fourth annual women's golf classic on Monday and raised funds that were used for the team's trip to Cuba as well as ongoing facility upgrades. Both the coaches and student-athletes have and continue to express their gratitude to the 28 foursomes and attendees that participated throughout the day.
Major contributions from corporations, such as adidas, the Cardinals' official apparel outfitter, and AEG Facilities and the KFC Yum! Center, help make it possible for the coaches to locate and attract the top student-athletes to the University and assist the current student-athletes train and excel to keep Louisville among the elite programs in the country.
This summer, Louisville became the first NCAA women's basketball program to visit and play in Cuba. In the last few years, Louisville made upgrades to its practice facility that include a newly renovated training room, upgraded locker room, and a stunning display just beyond the doors to the court that commemorate both the past and present players.
