
Hensley Named ACC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week

Megan Hensley earns her second weekly honor of the season
The University of Louisville's Megan Hensley was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on May 9 in the league's final weekly honor of the season.
Hensley, a freshman from Ashland, Ky., did not allow a run in two appearances against No. 5 Florida State while holding the Seminoles to a .111 batting average, surrendering only two hits in 8.2 innings of work. She pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout to help the Cardinals to a 4-0 win in the series opener and did not allow a hit or a run in 1.2 innings of relief in Louisville's 4-3 loss on Sunday. Hensley's effort came against a Florida State team that ranks third in the nation in runs scored, averaging nearly eight per game.
• This marks the second ACC weekly honor for Hensley. She was also named Co-Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 15 after the first week of the 2016 season.Â
• She now carries a 2.23 ERA and a 15-4 overall record entering the ACC Championship.
•The Cardinals (34-14) earned the No. 2 seed in the ACC tournament after posting a 15-8 record in conference play. Louisville will take on the No. 7 seed Syracuse in the quarterfinals on Thursday May 12 at 5 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C. at NC State's Dail Softball Stadium. The game will be shown on the league's Regional Sports Networks and ESPN3.Â
