
Women’s Golf Moves into Tie for Eighth at ACC Championship

The Cardinals shot a 7-over-par 295 and moved up three spots into a tie for eighth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville redshirt senior Katie Mitchell fired an even-par 72, helping the Cardinals' women's golf team rise three spots into a tie for eighth on Saturday following the second round of the ACC Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Mitchell made the third-largest improvement on the individual leaderboard, moving up 16 spots into a tie for 31st. The Jacksonville, Fla., native shot par on eight of her first nine holes and then recorded consecutive birdies on Nos. 10 and 11. She clubbed her second bogey on No. 14, but finished the day with four-consecutive pars.
Collectively, the Cardinals totaled a 7-over-par 295 on Saturday – a 16-stroke improvement from the opening round – and are tied with Florida State for eighth at 30-over-par 606. With the second-round scores included, Louisville boasts the second-best average on par-3 holes (3.15).
Molly Skapik, who led the team on Friday, carded a 2-over-par 74 and remained in the top 20. Despite a 3-over-par performance through the first nine holes, she compiled a team-best four birdies on the back nine. The sophomore's two-day score, a 5-over-par 149, is tied for 19th best in the field.
Senior Laura Restrepo also had an improved day at the Sedgefield Country Club, registering a 1-over-par 73. Ranked as one of Golfstat's top-50 players in the country, she fared better on the back stretch. Restrepo putted for par on her first seven holes, but tallied bogeys on Nos. 8, 9, and 10. She finished strong over her final eight, with two birdies and six pars, and is tied for 39th with a 10-over-par 154.
Freshman Ellen Kehoe and junior Louise Oxner each shot a 4-over-par 76, rounding out the Cardinals' scoring. Kehoe is tied for 34th behind an 8-over-par 152.
Louisville tees off with Florida State and Miami on Sunday at 9:20 a.m. for the final round of the championship.
