Cards win 6-1 move to 6-1 on season

The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles point and all but one singles point to roll to a 6-1 win Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"It was good to see us bounce back and play as well as they did," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "It's always a mental struggle to come out and give 100 percent focus and intensity earli when you lost a close match earlier in the day. But they were able to put it behind them and play well enough to keep the match under control the way they should."

Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez cruised to a 6-2 win over Jeanne Masson and Alina Schibol at No. 3. Olivia Boesing and Sena Suswam clinched the point by beating Erin Patton and Haily Morgan 6-4 at No. 1.

The Racers tied the score when Louisville's Jessie Paul had to retire with an injury at No. 3. Ariana Rodriguez gave the Cardinals back the lead when she won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 over Jeanne Masson. Olivia Boesing won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 over Alina Schibol. Abbie Pahz won at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-4 sweep of Erin Patton. Elle Stokes won at No. 2 over Amina Hadzic 6-4, 6-3 and Sena Suswam outlasted Megan Blue 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1.

UofL (6-1) host Marshall on Feb. 12 at 3:00 at the Bass Rudd.
