Restrepo Takes Seventh, Women’s Golf Ninth at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

Laura Restrepo shot a 1-under-par 71 and capped the tournament at 1-over-par 217.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville's Laura Restrepo finished seventh after shooting her best round of the tournament at 1-under-par 71, and the University of Louisville women's golf team earned ninth at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
After compiling 1-over-par 73 in the first two rounds, Restrepo carded a 1-under-par 71 and registered her fourth top-10 finish of the season. Katie Mitchell tied for 42nd, and Jacqueline Twitty tied for 44th. The No. 32 Cardinals capped the three-day event at 34-over-par 898 and finished ahead of 27th-ranked NC State and 19th-ranked Purdue.
Molly Skapik, who tied for 56th, was the Cardinals' No. 4 scorer.
The senior from Panama, Restrepo had a pair of birdies and bogeys through her first five holes. She moved to the back nine and had a relatively smooth performance, scoring even-par 36 over the last nine holes. This season, she has earned logged six rounds even or below par and boasts a team-leading 73.21 stroke average.
Mitchell had the best start of the team in the first round at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course, with an even-par 72. The senior, though, totaled a 5-over-par 77 in the second round and concluded her performance with a 6-over-par 78.
Louisville returns to competition toward the end of the month, when it travels to the Hurricane Invitational from Feb. 29 through March 2 in Miami, Fla. The three-day event is scheduled to take place at the Biltmore Golf Course.
