Today's game was the first ever meeting between Louisville and LSU
Louisville has a 19-36-1 record all-time against current members of the Southeastern Conference.
The Cardinals are 3-2 all-time in bowl games against the SEC.
Head coach Bobby Petrino has a 2-3 record all-time against LSU and a 25-20 mark against SEC foes.
Petrino has a 5-5 record in bowl games, including a 3-4 mark at Louisville.
Petrino's coaching record at Louisville is 67-22 while his overall record is 109-43.

TEAM

Saturday's game captains for UofL were Lamar Jackson, Tobijah Hughley, Devante Peete, Keith Kelsey, DeAngelo Brown, and Brandon Radcliff.
LSU won the coin toss and elected to receive the football to open Saturday's game.
Louisville played without three starters on defense on Saturday as S Josh Harvey-Clemons, OLB James Hearns and CB Trumaine Washington were out with injury.
Saturday's game marked the first career starts for S Khane Pass and CB Ronald Walker.
Despite Saturday's loss, the Cardinals have won five of their last eight bowl games and are 10-10-1 overall in their 21 bowl appearances.
The Cardinals ended the 2016 season with a school record 6,925 yards of total offense surpassing the previous record of 6,468 in 2004.
Louisville also ended the season with a school record for rushing yards with 3,148 surpassing the previous high of 3,005 in 2004.

Sophomore Lamar Jackson closed the season with 1571 yards rushing, a school record total for a quarterback.
- Jackson finished the season with 5,114 yards of total offense, 95 yards short of the ACC season record set by Deshaun Watson in 2015.
Redshirt freshman Blanton Creque was 3-of-3 on field goals Saturday, including a career-best 47-yard kick to close the first half.
- The 47-yard field goal by Creque was the longest in school history in a bowl game.
- Creque moved to a tie for third place on UofL's single season list with 16 field goals on 19 attempts in 2016.
- The three field goals for Creque equaled the school record for field goals in a bowl game set by John Wallace in the 2013 Russell Athletic Bowl.
Redshirt freshman punter Mason King tied the school record for punts in a bowl game with eight.
- King set school records for punt yards in a bowl game (404) and average yards per punt in a bowl (50.5).
Senior running back Brandon Radcliff moved into eighth place in career rushing yards at Louisville with 2,365 yards.
Senior tight end Cole Hikutini has caught a pass in 23 straight games, including one catch for 12 yards on Saturday.
- Hikutini's 668 yards receiving in 2016 place him sixth all-time in a single season by a tight end.
Senior wide receiver James Quick finished with three catches for 81 yards on Saturday. He closed the season with 45 catches for a team-leading 769 yards.
