Quang and Moe pick up wins on final day of Collegiate Clay Court Invitational
Freshman Clement Filho posted a runner-up finish in the consolation draw while sophomore Michael Quang and freshman Fredrik Moe won their final match as the University of Louisville men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Collegiate Clay Court Invitational at The Country Club of Birmingham.
Â
Filho picked up two wins in the Navy Singles consolation draw to reach the finals where he took the first set 6-4, before falling 6-4, 6-4 in the next two sets to Eastern Kentucky's Ramon van Flymen. Also playing consolation matches, Quang beat Middle Tennessee's Michael Apple 6-3, 6-0 and Moe defeated Samford's Max Rebol 6-7, 6-3, 6-1.
Â
"It was a great finish for Michael and Fredrik," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "They both played clean and Fredrik especially found a new level of tennis today. This is a great event and we had a great time here. We hoped for better results, but at the end showed toughness and made good adjustments to the clay courts."
